Terms of use

What this site provides

Project Estimate provides material quantity estimates for construction and DIY projects. It is a planning aid. It is not professional advice, not a structural design, and not an approval of any kind. See the disclaimer for the full statement of limitations.

Using the site

You may use the calculators freely, for personal or commercial projects. You agree not to:

  • Attempt to disrupt the service or circumvent its rate limits
  • Submit false, abusive or automated form submissions
  • Scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for other users
  • Present the output as a professional structural or compliance assessment

Accuracy

Considerable effort goes into the calculations, and the assumptions behind them are published with their sources and ranges on the material densities page. Even so, estimates are estimates. Densities vary with moisture and source, bag fill weights vary between merchants, and product dimensions change.

You are responsible for checking quantities against your own measurements and your supplier’s actual products before ordering. If you find an error, please report it.

Costs

Cost figures are calculated only from prices you enter. This site does not hold, quote, scrape or estimate supplier prices, and no cost shown should be taken as a market price or a quotation.

Shared estimates

Share links are unlisted rather than secret. Anyone with the link can view the estimate. Do not put anything into an estimate title that you would not want a recipient to see. Shared estimates expire automatically; see the privacy page for the retention period.

Liability

The site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from use of these estimates — including over-ordering, under-ordering, delivery costs, project delays or any construction outcome.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

Calculations, assumptions and these terms may be updated. Material changes to a calculation method are reflected on the methodology page, and each assumption carries its own review date.
